Woodland Wonder Walk
Distance: Approximately 1.5–2 miles | Duration: 30–60 minutes | Difficulty: Easy | Dog-friendly: Yes
The Woodland Wonder Walk is the gentlest route in our collection. A quiet, shaded circular trail through the mixed woodland surrounding Priory Farm, it is ideal for early mornings or for guests who want a short leg-stretch without committing to a longer outing. Accessible to all fitness levels and particularly popular with dog walkers.
The woodland is a mix of broadleaf species including oak, ash, hazel, and field maple, with a shrub layer that provides excellent cover for birds and small mammals. Spring is a wonderful time to walk this route: bluebells carpet the woodland floor from April, and the air fills with birdsong. Blackcaps, chiffchaffs, and willow warblers all breed in this area, and patient walkers may spot a treecreeper working its way up the bark of the older oaks.
In autumn the woodland takes on brilliant colour and the paths are strewn with leaves. The route is largely sheltered from the wind, making it a pleasant choice even on breezy days. Dogs are welcome throughout and can be kept off-lead in the woodland sections.
